Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about the South East Gambling Addiction Support Service (SEGAS)? Below, you'll find answers to the most common queries about who we support, how the service works, and what to expect from our free, confidential one-to-one online sessions.

1. Is this service really free?

Yes. There is no cost to use this service. It is funded by the Department of Health and the HSE through the Cornmarket Project to ensure accessible support is available in the South East.

2. Do I need a referral?

No. You can book a session yourself directly through this website. No GP letter or referral is needed.

3. Is it confidential?

Absolutely. Everything you share during your session is private and confidential. We do not share information unless there is a serious risk to you or someone else – and even then, we would talk with you first.

4. What if I'm not sure I have a problem?

That's okay. Many people aren't sure. Your session is a space to talk things through without pressure or judgement. You don't have to have it all figured out before reaching out.

5. Can I get support for someone I care about?

Yes. If you're worried about someone else's gambling or gaming, we can support you too. Whether you're a partner, parent, friend, or sibling – you don't have to face it alone.

6. Is this service for gaming as well as gambling?

Yes. Many people experience difficulty in controlling gaming behaviour, including excessive time spent gaming, disruption to daily life, or compulsive in-game purchases. If you're struggling, we're here to help.
